Backing up the first time
After you have decided on what files you want to protect, the software will then take all of these files and compress them in to a smaller size. Once the compression process is completed, it will automatically encrypt it using the highest standard of security so that it cannot be read by anyone except for you. The encrypted data is then sent over the Internet to our offsite data storage facilities where your data will stay encrypted.
Ongoing backups
You have the freedom to backup your data as often as every hour or as infrequently as once a year, as long as your computer is turned on and connected to the Internet. With our software, you can set the time and days when you would like the files to be backed up automatically. Each time a backup starts, the software will check for any changes/updates to the designated files on the computer and backup only the changes that were made during the last backup schedule. By transmitting only these changes, the backup will pose no performance issues for your network. Our goal is to give you the freedom to leave the office with an added piece of mind.
Privacy
During installation you will be asked to create a password for the protection of your data. This password is very important, as it is the only way your data can be opened in case you need to restore your files from our offsite facility. It is critical to be aware that you will be the ONLY one who has this password so do not share it with anyone. This password will not even be known to Backup My Info! or anyone else in the world.
Reports
In the software you downloaded, you will have access to a wide array of reports. These reports will show you various data points such as the amount of data stored offsite. These reports are available anytime.
Recovery options
Individual files can be restored directly online using our software's simple and easy to use interface. In the event of a major data loss or site disaster, Backup My Info! can immediately transport your backup data to your original computer or a new location with no delay. All you have to do is point and click on the files you want to restore and they will be restored instantly to your computer. Files can also be copied to cd-rom and delivered overnight. Data is always encrypted and password protected so that in case anyone else gets access to your cd-rom, they won't be able to read it without your password.
